"Edges of Tenderness" is a live performance that utilizes Shibari, or Japanese rope bondage, as its main technique. Masha and Margherita have been working together for over two years, integrating their personal journeys into their practice and performances.
Choreography on the Edge is an eclectic mix of dance genres, from Ballet to Zumba (not really, but a ‘Z’ was needed). This year’s show includes Ballet, Modern, Jazz and dance improvisation among other styles. Among the choreographers are local professionals and companies from Albany to NYC. Each piece has been choreographed specifically for this show and represents the choreographer’s going out of their comfort zone to try something new. This show promises to be an exciting and rewarding experience.
Up to six performers or groups each get ten minutes of stage time to present their live performance -- short finished work, an excerpt of a longer piece, or a work-in-progress -- any form of live performance. (No slide lectures or video documents of previously presented work, please.) After the performances, there will be a moderated feedback session with the audience for artists wishing to participate.
