This month ASK is proud to be hosting Freedom Dreams, presented by:

The Library at the AJ Williams-Meyers African Roots Center

Rise Up Kingston

Celebrate845

The show’s title “Freedom Dreams” was inspired by Dr. Robin Kelly’s book, Freedom Dreams: The Black Radical Imagination. Kelly writes “Without new visions, we don’t know what to build, only what to knock down. We not only end up confused, rudderless, and cynical, but we forget that making a revolution is not a series of clever maneuvers and tactics, but a process that can and must transform us” thus, we have invited artists to dream up their own world where freedom is at the center of revolution.

The salon-style show features both visual and performing BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) artists living or working in New York’s Hudson Valley region. It runs for 4 weeks at Arts Society of Kingston and is also viewable online. We invite you to enjoy the showcase and support all artists involved by purchasing work or following them on social media.
