Our Spotlight Solo Artist for the month of May is Pat Travis-Rosenberg, with the exhibition Threads of Memory. This exhibition is a collection of monoprint collage using fragmented textiles and thread to create abstract imagery.
Threads of Memory and the monotype prints in this ongoing series unexpectedly seem to be timely. With COVID, illness, war and death, families have had the unfortunate need to put closure to loved ones’ lives. Removing clothing and items from draws, closets, trunks and boxes opens up the lives of those who have passed with unanswered questions about the garments that were worn and kept. What were the personal reasons for keeping a table cloth, curtain, scarf or other items perhaps having a personal memory never shared.
Threads of Memory is my abstract construction of hidden desire, dreams, remembrances that cannot be resolved yet forms a cryptic story that can only be satisfied by the viewer.
