Actors and Writers, as part of the 2018 staged readings at ASK, present Gertrude and Claudius on Saturday June 9 at 7pm in ASK’s Great Room Theatre.
John Updike’s passionate novel adapted by Mark St. Germain, features Shakespeare’s classic characters in a ‘prequal’ to Hamlet. Risking discovery and death, Gertrude and Claudius’ forbidden passion plays out behind the back of King Hamlet, Gertrude’s husband, the older brother of Claudius. Romance turns to tragedy when Claudius, with the help of Polonius, plots to murder the King, setting off a chain of events leading to Hamlet’s revenge.
Admission by donation, $20 suggested, any amount welcome.
