Our Spotlight Solo Artist for the month of July is Todd Samara, with the Spotlight Exhibition titled Todd Samara: A Lifetime of Art. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, Todd Samara (1944-2020) lived and painted in Kingston’s Rondout neighborhood for many years. He captured the life of the neighborhood in vividly colored landscapes, streetscapes, interior scenes and portraits of area residents. This exhibit consists of over 40 paintings, most consisting of landscapes of Rondout, although there are also inventive studio views and a few figure studies. Several large panoramas of the creek are also on display. All works are for sale. You can learn more about Todd Samara and the Todd Samara Art Fund Project at toddsamara.com/
Every month ASK provides a prompt for our members to respond to and this July the theme is Contrasts: contrasts relates to color, proportion, texture and also, things unrelated to elements of art, but rather, ideas. Members are allowed to display up to three pieces each month, with no charge for the first piece.
Celebrate845's 2022 residency at Arts Society of Kingston continues with "EPHEMERA". We invite our community to literally come and draw on the walls. No joke. We'll photograph its progress from time to time and at the end of its 2 month run we'll make a limited edition print zine with a digital version available. You've got 2 months to come leave your mark on this fleeting project. Enjoy 👀
ASK’s Members Exhibition this month is Poetic License.
