ASK’s Performance Space Upgrade!

ASK’s Great Room, once the reading room to the synagogues in the Rondout, was rebuilt and restored in 2015 by local supporters. Now, ten years later, we are able to professionalize this space with a sound and lighting booth, raked seating, and an upgraded lighting plot, due to a Capital Improvement Grant from New York State Council on the Arts. By professionalizing this space, ASK’s Great Room will be one of the few contemporary black box theaters in our area. Replete with green room, the space can now be used in multiple formats, as a theater in the round as well as proscenium. Special thanks to Scott Dutton Architect, Johnny Poux designer, Paul O’Connor general contractor and Tom Nash, electrician for their help and ingenuity. Work aims to be completed by early May!

LAByrinth Theater Company

LAByrinth Theater Company playwright/screenwriter Stephen Adly Gurgis’ “DOG DAY AFTERNOON” is now on Broadway – but had part of it’s development and staged reading with Jon Bernthal last summer as part of the LAB’s Summer Intensive which has found its home at ASK.

LAB will return this summer with more work to share… stay tuned!
