SEPTEMBER SHOW: Members Call for Art.
Deadline: July 10, 11:59 PM
Poetry of the Ordinary
The Arts Society of Kingston (ASK) invites artists to submit work for Poetry of the Ordinary, a juried exhibition celebrating the beauty, mystery, and meaning found in everyday life.
The ordinary often goes unnoticed – a morning cup of coffee, neighborhood streets, quiet rituals, fleeting gestures, familiar objects, or the subtle rhythms of daily existence. Yet within these seemingly commonplace moments lies a profound poetry that reveals our shared humanity.
We seek artwork that transforms the mundane through artistic vision. Through observation, memory, humor, intimacy, or reflection, artists are encouraged to explore how the everyday can become a source of wonder, connection, and insight.
All visual media are welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking, fiber, ceramics, mixed media, and installation.
Whether your work documents reality, abstracts lived experience, or reimagines the commonplace, we invite submissions that reveal the poetry hidden in everyday life.
We look forward to seeing how you uncover the extraordinary within the ordinary.
Abstraction allows artists to move beyond representation, using color, form, texture, movement, and composition to communicate ideas, emotions, and experiences. Whether your work is bold and expressive, subtle and contemplative, geometric, organic, or entirely experimental, we welcome contemporary interpretations of abstraction in all media.
