DESCRIPTION:The Space Between Seeing and Feeling \n\n\n\nKen Wenger \n\n\n\nThe Space Between Seeing and Feeling showcases the work of Ken Wenger\, whose artistic practice is driven by an intrinsic need to express the profound emotions that arise from close observation of the world. Working across a range of media\, with a particular emphasis on pastel\, Wenger reveals the beauty and emotional depth found within portraiture. \n\n\n\nHis process begins with a black-and-white photograph enlarged and printed on textured paper\, creating a foundation for richly layered pastel applications. Sometimes working delicately with his fingertips and other times using the full force of his hand\, Wenger transforms photographic images into deeply tactile works that blur the boundary between documentation and emotional interpretation. \n\n\n\nHis subjects range from intimate studies of flowers to dramatic nudes and emotionally charged figurative scenes. Across these varied themes\, Wenger is consistently drawn to moments of vulnerability and intensity. The photographic image captures a fleeting moment in reality\, while the hand-applied pastel reshapes it through memory\, imagination\, and touch. \n\n\n\nBy combining photography and pastel\, Wenger explores how images evolve when they are physically engaged and emotionally reimagined\, inviting viewers to slow down\, look closely\, and discover the emotional landscape beneath the surface. \n\n\n\nThe opening reception is free and open to the public on Friday\, July 31\, from 6:00–8:00 PM. DESCRIPTION:Reclaimed Light\, Mended Worlds \n\n\n\nNatalya Khorover \n\n\n\nIn Reclaimed Light\, Mended Worlds\, Natalya Khorover transforms discarded materials—including single-use plastics\, vintage linens\, and urban debris—into installations and sculptural objects that reveal beauty within the overlooked. \n\n\n\nDrawing upon community-collected waste\, Khorover explores themes of healing\, repair\, and renewal. Her work reflects the poetic light filtering through city structures\, weathered surfaces\, and grime-streaked windows while celebrating the intuitive act of mending broken fragments into new forms. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition brings together four interconnected series: \n\n\n\n\nInner Work\, a meditation on personal and planetary healing.\n\n\n\nUrban Perspective\, celebrating the layered\, luminous chaos of the city.\n\n\n\nForever Ephemeral\, where bottles filled with shredded plastic waste become glowing relics of contemporary consumption.\n\n\n\nPhantom Blooms\, an imagined garden in which discarded plastics are transformed into strange seedlings and shimmering flowers.\n\n\n\n\nTogether\, these works invite viewers to reconsider what we throw away\, what we choose to preserve\, and how acts of transformation can turn waste into wonder. \n\n\n\nFor more than twenty years\, Khorover has reclaimed and repurposed discarded materials\, inspired by a thrifty upbringing in Leningrad\, USSR\, and New York City. She has created numerous site-specific installations\, including Arcadia Lost (ArtsWestchester)\, Hothouse\, and Speaking of Birds (Tilly Foster Farm Museum). \n\n\n\nA graduate of Pratt Institute with a BFA\, Khorover transitioned from careers in fashion and film to a full-time studio practice. Her work has been featured in Quilt National\, Quilts=Art=Quilts\, Surface Design Magazine\, Fiber Art Now\, and SAQA Journal. She is also an educator\, lecturer\, and founder of REPURPOSER COLLECTIVE\, a community for artists working with sustainable materials\, and host of the podcast SALVAGE\, which explores repurposed art practices. SUMMARY:Visual Arts Workshop!
DESCRIPTION:Practicing and exploring the difference between Western brushes and Eastern calligraphy brush techniques. Artists will learn how to create meaningful painting strokes employing Chinese and Western brush techniques. How to load a brush\, why they’re different shapes\, sizes and have different bristles. Bring all the brushes you have. Bamboo brushes\, traditional ink and rice paper will be provided. Workshop will take place on August 23 from 2 PM – 4 PM. This is a donated workshop by master teacher Fran Sutherland. Enrollment by donation to ASK.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFran Sutherland\, a native New Yorker\, is a painter\, teacher\, and restorer of historic homes. Strongly influenced by Eastern aesthetics\, Fran’s creative paintings synthesize both Eastern and Western formats in multi-media works. The chosen media and techniques express personal ideas\, which is especially evident in her textural compositions emphasizing oil and acrylic resist techniques. Fran’s most recent and unique works reflect the geophysical world\, which we all experience in different ways. For this artist\, walking\, hiking\, and motorless boating are meditative and energizing at the same time. To begin looking out or forward is the way Fran Sutherland psychologically and physically approaches the day and life. The Meditative Series depict the top piece that shows an Asian-styled\, vertical composition\, and the second bottom piece that recognizes what is at one’s feet and depicts the subject in a Western\, rectangular format. The two paintings are then presented and suspended as one work of art. This new series of paintings explores and attempts to share the act of looking forward and where one is at the moment\, or what is below as well as ahead. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDonate here to enroll!

Most people who take their first musical improv class are convinced they “can’t sing.” The good news is that you don’t have to. Musical improv isn’t about having a beautiful voice: it’s about committing to a character\, making bold choices\, and discovering that you can create a song out of absolutely nothing. It’s surprising\, joyful\, and ridiculously fun. \n\n\n\nIn this beginner-friendly class you’ll learn simple\, repeatable techniques for improvising songs\, transitioning scenes into music\, and singing out your character’s emotions with confidence (even if you’ve never sung in front of another human being). \n\n\n\nIf you’ve ever watched a musical improv show and thought\, “I wish I could do that… but I definitely can’t\,” this class is for you! . Guided by embodied imagery as a powerful tool for transformation we’ll access moving with agility\, transparency and depth. Through alignment studies\, movement exploration and group improvisation we’ll cultivate a deep connection to our inner and outer environments. In this series we’ll explore three unique states of dancing; I move\, it moves me\, It moves! A remarkably effective way of learning\, the OSF approach can catalyze transformation in many kinds of practice\, in unique movement virtuosity\, and in daily life. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect:This is a guided improvisational dance class for all levels of movers\, and can be done with any amount of energy. Kinesthetic insight is approached in multi-directional\, structural and poetic ways. Partnered bodywork is included to inform our movement explorations. Through her dance company ‘Earthbody’ she presents performance\, artwork and workshops emerging from an intimate conversation with the body\, psyche and natural environment. DESCRIPTION:ECHOES OF THE ANCESTRALElisa Pritzker Solo ExhibitionCelebrating Hispanic Heritage Month \n\n\n\nArtist Talk: Sunday Sept. 27\, 4 PM \n\n\n\nThis solo exhibition by Elisa Pritzker brings together 2D\, 3D\, and installation works shaped through acrylic paint on natural and varied materials\, with the imprint of aself-created iconography that affirms a universal ancestral identity where past and present converge. Each art piece gathers traces of ancient cultural impulses and carries them forward\, allowing inherited forces to appear in transformed states that speak to the continuity of human experience. The visual language that emerges is built from instinct\, study\, and a deep engagement with symbolic forms that move across time. Layered surfaces and elemental structures serve as portals through which primordial presence becomes perceptible as an active influence shaping contemporary consciousness. In this way\, the works reveal how universal identity is continually informed by what precedes us. The exhibition proposes an understanding of the ancestral that extends beyond specific traditions. Instead\, it evokes a shared human origin through images that function as sites of return\, places where ancient impulses and present awareness coexist. This convergence creates a field in which continuity becomes visible\, with an invitation to recognize the echoes that move through us and contribute to the formation of the present moment. \n\n\n\nElisa Pritzker is an Argentinian American artist\, independent curator\, and columnist. For more than three decades\, she has directed the Pritzker Studio & Gallery. DESCRIPTION:Iceland by 4 \n\n\n\nFeaturing Photography by Chris Acosta\, Lee Courtney\, Mark Howenstein\, and John Verner \n\n\n\nIcelandic folklore is inseparable from its dramatic landscape\, with stories of elves\, trolls\, ghosts\, Vikings\, towering mountains\, and cascading waterfalls woven into its history. Known as the Land of Fire and Ice\, Iceland is often described as one of the world’s most breathtaking destinations. \n\n\n\nTo discover whether these legends and landscapes lived up to their reputation\, four Hudson Valley photographers—and their spouses—set out to explore the island together. Traveling to both iconic destinations and hidden locations\, the photographers captured Iceland’s remarkable terrain through their own unique artistic perspectives. Several members of the group have returned to Iceland multiple times\, continually inspired by its ever-changing light and atmosphere. \n\n\n\nThe result is Iceland by 4\, a collaborative exhibition that offers four distinct visual interpretations of one extraordinary place. Rather than explaining Iceland\, the photographers invite viewers to experience it through their images—its immense beauty\, rugged weather\, quiet moments\, and unforgettable landscapes. \n\n\n\nClosing Event: Sunday Sept. 27\, 3 PM \n\n\n\nAbout the Artists \n\n\n\nChris Acosta is a self-taught photographer based in Ulster County whose passion for photography began more than fifty years ago while learning traditional black-and-white darkroom techniques. His work ranges from intimate documentary images to sweeping landscapes gathered during extensive travels around the world. Acosta has exhibited throughout the region and currently serves as Vice President of the Arts Society of Kingston Board of Directors. \n\n\n\nLee Courtney is a fine art and commercial photographer whose work has appeared in solo and juried exhibitions throughout the Hudson Valley and the Southwest. While widely recognized for her ethereal floral imagery\, travel photography has become an equally important part of her artistic practice. Courtney holds a degree in Photography & Digital Media Arts from Richland College in Dallas\, Texas\, and lives in Rhinebeck\, New York. \n\n\n\nJohn Verner is a fine art\, commercial\, and stock photographer represented by Getty Images. His photographs have appeared in numerous national publications and organizations\, including The Wall Street Journal\, CNBC\, Food & Wine\, The Huffington Post\, and many others. In addition to exhibiting nationally\, Verner regularly lectures on photography and serves as a juror for photographic competitions. He holds a BFA in Fine Arts and resides in Rhinebeck\, New York. \n\n\n\nMark Howenstein is a landscape photographer based in New York’s Catskill Mountains. With more than fifty years of photographic experience\, his work explores the fleeting interplay of light and landscape\, revealing moments of quiet transcendence. Following a career as Professor of Law and Society at Ramapo College\, Howenstein devoted himself to photography\, studying with internationally recognized instructors while exhibiting and presenting throughout the Hudson Valley.

DESCRIPTION:ADVANCED ELECTIVE – LIMITED SPACE \n\n\n\nCOMPLETION OF LEVEL 3 REQUIRED \n\n\n\nFINAL PERFORMANCE/ REQUIRED \n\n\n\n4 Sessions \n\n\n\nThink you can’t sing? Perfect. Most people who take their first musical improv class are convinced they “can’t sing.” The good news is that you don’t have to. Musical improv isn’t about having a beautiful voice: it’s about committing to a character\, making bold choices\, and discovering that you can create a song out of absolutely nothing. It’s surprising\, joyful\, and ridiculously fun. \n\n\n\nIn this beginner-friendly class you’ll learn simple\, repeatable techniques for improvising songs\, transitioning scenes into music\, and singing out your character’s emotions with confidence (even if you’ve never sung in front of another human being). \n\n\n\nIf you’ve ever watched a musical improv show and thought\, “I wish I could do that… but I definitely can’t\,” this class is for you! . Taught by guest instructor Susan Gray (Hudson Valley Improv Touring Company)\, this class meets you exactly where you are and builds from the ground up. And yes — it all leads to a final performance where you take everything you’ve found and bring it to the stage. Your voice is already in there.
