DESCRIPTION:Petals & Pollinators: Illustrating Between the Bees\n\n\n\n\nShowing in the Members Gallery \n\n\n\n\n\nOpening Reception May 2nd @ 3pm\n\n\n\nExhibition May 2 – 31\, 2026\n\n\n\nASK Gallery Hours: Thurs – Sun\, Noon – 5pm \n\n\n\n\n\nThis exhibition features work that examines the beauty\, fragility\, and interdependence of ecological systems from the intimate exchange of pollen to the broader environmental narratives of climate change\, habitat loss\, and biodiversity. SUMMARY:Retrospective: Fran Sutherland
DESCRIPTION:Retrospective\n\n\n\nFran Sutherland\n\n\n\n\nShowing in the Front Gallery \n\n\n\n\n\nOpening Reception May 2 @ 3pm\n\n\n\nExhibition May 2 – 31\, 2026\n\n\n\nASK Gallery Hours: Fri – Sun\, Noon – 5pm \n\n\n\n\n\nFrom the oil paintings created in 1958 at SUNY New Paltz until the mixed media art works of 2025\, this retrospective features the landscape and bridges of the Hudson Valley inspired by abstract representations of native American (Lenape) sacred stories. \n\n\n\nFran Sutherland\, a native New Yorker\, is a painter\, teacher and restorer of historic homes. Strongly influenced by Eastern aesthetics\, Fran’s creative paintings synthesize both Eastern and Western formats in multi-media works. The chosen media and techniques express personal ideas\, which is especially evident in her textural compositions emphasizing oil and acrylic resist techniques. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the artist \n\n\n\nFran Sutherland\, a native New Yorker\, is a painter\, teacher\, and restorer of historic homes. Strongly influenced by Eastern aesthetics\, Fran’s creative paintings synthesize both Eastern and Western formats in multi-media works. The chosen media and techniques express personal ideas\, which is especially evident in her textural compositions emphasizing oil and acrylic resist techniques. Fran’s most recent and unique works reflect the geophysical world\, which we all experience in different ways. For this artist\, walking\, hiking\, and motorless boating are meditative and energizing at the same time. To begin looking out or forward is the way Fran Sutherland psychologically and physically approaches the day and life. The Meditative Series depict the top piece that shows an Asian-styled\, vertical composition\, and the second bottom piece that recognizes what is at one’s feet and depicts the subject in a Western\, rectangular format. The two paintings are then presented and suspended as one work of art. This new series of paintings explores and attempts to share the act of looking forward and where one is at the moment\, or what is below as well as ahead. \n\n\n\nMany of her works\, including The Bridge Series\, integrate geologic coloration and the play of light and water with local and international sites and architectural structures. Sutherland’s semi-autobiographical paintings continue to be inspired by New York’s Hudson Valley and Arizona’s Santa Rita Mountains. \n\n\n\nVisit the artist’s website

SUMMARY:WEiRD: A staged reading
DESCRIPTION:WEiRD: A Staged Reading & Fundraiser for ASK\n\n\n\n\nSaturday May 9\, 2026 @ 7:30pm\n\n\n\nKingston\, NY\n\n\n\n\nOverview: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWEiRD is an ensemble play that explores adolescence through the eyes of Grayson\, a 13-year-old neurodivergent science prodigy who sees the world in formulas and patterns. Recently placed in a high school biology class far beyond his age\, Grayson becomes the emotional center of a loosely connected group of teens and adults navigating grief\, identity\, family fractures\, and the pressure to conform. An allegorical surrealistic play\, WEiRD unfolds through multimedia imagery\, an immersive soundscape\, and minimal set pieces that shape its dreamlike world. \n\n\n\nFeaturing: Nicholas Scott\, Trudy Poux\, Aliyah Gruberg-Revty\, Josh Crouch\, Lex Powell\, Norm Magnusson\, Arriella Guidubaldi\, Hannah Munson\, Johnny Poux. \n\n\n\nWritten & Directed by Amy Poux \n\n\n\nThe play centers on the quiet resilience of teens living on the edge: River\, Grayson’s older sibling\, who is quietly unraveling under the weight of adult responsibilities; Shiloh\, Grayson’s best friend and confidant\, and surprising empathy in Wren\, an older student who becomes a quiet ally. Meanwhile\, Wren’s girlfriend Dakota—a complicated teen grappling with queerness and internalized rage—feels threatened by Grayson’s bond with Wren and begins to lash out. Her brother Bryce\, angry and adrift\, enables her aggression while navigating his own toxic masculinity and family trauma. \n\n\n\nAmy Poux\, the project’s writer and director\, brings a distinct theatrical style rooted in nonlinear structure\, impressionistic imagery\, and live audience interaction. Her work draws from Boal and Brechtian traditions\, combining poetic storytelling with community engagement to create theater that invites transformation and radical empathy. \n\n\n\nWEiRD continues Poux’s commitment to centering voices that are typically marginalized and those living at the intersection of difference and invisibility. The piece does not merely depict trauma\, it models resilience\, tenderness\, and the radical possibilities of inclusion. Stylistically\, WEiRD builds on Poux’s prior work (Nona’s Supper Club\, Do Nothings TV pilot\, and Take To The Bed) by incorporating stylized movement\, poetic language\, and musicality to draw the audience into the protagonist’s world view. \n\n\n\nThis staged reading is a fundraiser for Arts Society of Kingston in celebration of the new performing arts venue. All sales will go towards ASK’s operations and support of this vital new space for performing artists. \n\n\n\n\nGET TIX

SUMMARY:Teresa Smith: Open Source Form
DESCRIPTION:Open Source Forms / Dancing the Inner Landscape \n\n\n\n\nWith Teresa Smith \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarch 13 & 17\, 2026\n\n\n\nApril 10 & 24\, 2026\n\n\n\nMay 8 & 22\, 2026\n\n\n\nJune 5 & 19\, 2026\n\n\n\n11Am – 1PM \n\n\n\n\nIn OSF classes we enter a creative process; letting go of outer layers of holding to find primal energy and ease. Guided by embodied imagery as a powerful tool for transformation we’ll learn to move with agility\, transparency and depth. Through alignment studies\, movement exploration and group improvisation we’ll cultivate a deep connection to our inner and outer environments. In this series we’ll explore three unique states of dancing; I move\, it moves me\, It moves! A remarkably effective way of learning\, the OSF approach can catalyze transformation in many kinds of practice\, in unique movement virtuosity\, and in daily life. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect:This is an improvisational movement class for all levels of movers\, and can be done with any amount of energy. Kinesthetic insight is approached in multi-directional\, structural and poetic ways. Music and silence is interwoven with (spoken) poetic imagery\, deep meditations and active\, focused improvisation.  \n\n\n\nTeresa Smith brings to her teaching a warm appreciation of each person’s essence and delights in awakening the creative spirit. She is a certified teacher of Open Source Forms™ and practiced the root form Skinner Releasing™ for three decades. Through her dance company ‘Earthbody’ she presents performance\, artwork and workshops emerging from an intimate conversation with the body\, psyche and natural environment. \n\n\n\nLearn more: www.earthbodyevents.com \n\n\n\nREGISTER: Earthbodybreath@gmail.com
