Make a Donation

Make your capital donation by June 30, 2010 to earn special tax credits!

Through June 30, 2010, eligible donors can make their charitable gifts to ASK worth so much more!

ASK is an approved community development project of the Kingston Ulster Empire Zone. Donors who contribute $500 or more toward ASK’s fundraising efforts for the ongoing renovation of its building or for mission-related equipment may be eligible to receive a 25% Community Development Project tax credit. Here is an example of how the program works: If a donor makes a $1,000 contribution, he/she will be eligible to use a $250 tax credit toward New York State personal or franchise tax owed, in addition to deducting the $1,000 donation from his/her federal taxable income.

Call ASK at (845) 338-0331, or e-mail ask@askforarts.org for more information about this opportunity.

For more information about ASK see the About Page.

As with any tax matter, ASK suggests that you consult with your legal, financial and tax advisors about this opportunity.

Giving Opportunities

Front Façade Renovation Fund

An ADA-compliant entry platform will provide the public with universal access to our downstairs galleries, temporary performance space, offices, and the existing accessible restroom.

This project also involves the installation of three sets of new historically-conforming French entry doors; the installation of historically-approved façade lighting; the installation of custom-built inside thermopane units, retrofitted to all historic transoms and sidelites around the three new entry door sets, providing historic façade preservation while improving ASK’s energy efficiency; and the installation of panic hardware on the two active exit doors, improvement of building security with electronic card-swipe locks, and installation of an alarm system (for forced entry and smoke/fire).

We are working with the Ulster County-based Walters Storyk Design Group (WSDG), a worldwide, full-service acoustics and audio/video design firm, specializing in critical listening and viewing environments of various types, on the renovation of our building. WSDG’s architectural plans for our space are complete and available for review in our office. ASK has applied for all required permits. It has the staff and organizational capacity to complete these projects by year-end 2010.

The total cost of this project is $50,000.

* We have secured funding toward the total cost of this project from the City of Kingston’s 2009 Community Development Program & Price Chopper’s Golub Foundation.

Fire Escape Fund

We need your help to move forward on the critical next stage of our 2nd Floor Renovation project.

We have the resources to finish our upstairs classroom space and begin offering studio arts classes in our own space. For safety reasons, we need to raise funds to purchase and install a new fire escape in order to get the Certificate of Occupancy we need to use our 2nd floor.
The total cost of this project is $30,000.

Matching Gifts

Some employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company offers this program, please request a matching gift form from your Human Resources Department and send it, completed and signed, with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to ASK may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

ASK is funded by the New York State Council on the Arts
