Artist Talk : Saturday, August 26, 2017 - 4pm
As the 2017 Distinguished Artist at the Arts Society of Kingston, Shaw has selected drawings, paintings and sculpture that are emblematic of the essential themes of his art over the last 55 years; life and death, living and dying, change and transformation, wounds, dreams, memories, human vulnerability and mortality.
The artist will be writing an accompanying reflection on the specific works and themes, philosophical, esthetic and psychological that are the driving force of his art, and life. Shaw has hundreds of works in over 50 museum, university and municipal collections, as well as hundreds of private collections, nationwide. He is also a medical doctor, psychiatrist, psychotherapist and meditation teacher.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ernest Shaw is an artist and medical doctor who taught himself to weld in 1974 and had his first sculpture exhibitions in 1978, at Sculpture Now in NYC. He has work in over 50 museum, university, and municipal collections, including the Rockefeller collection at Kykuit.
